RPG 400 Analyst Programmer

Our clients, a multi-nation firm in the Automotive sector, are currently recruiting for RPG 400 Analyst / Programmer to join their IT department on a 1-year contract.

The Role:

In this busy and varied role, you’ll be responsible for supporting existing business applications the group. You’ll be an established analyst / programmer ideally with a background in the automotive industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for a number of key tasks including but not limited to the following:

• Analyse user needs and develop solutions for these requirements
• Develop new and enhance existing programs
• Document modifications made to programs
• Test/Debug new and/or modified programs to ensure quality
• Test changes with the responsible business department
• Troubleshoot and debug existing code to identify and resolve issues
• Ability to communicate with users and other programmers to find best solution to design and optimize project requirements

The Person:

• Extensive experience of RPG and CL development on an AS400 platform
• SQL development skills would be a benefit
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to transition business requirements into technical solutions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to operate at all levels, understanding the wider implications of system and processes
• Knowledge of reporting & data analysis techniques such as Business Intelligence would be considered a definite advantage
• Relevant Experience (5+Yrs) in IT development and support
• Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst managing conflicting demands and priorities.
• Experience in a similar role in the Motor Industry desired but not essential.
