Health and Safety Officer

Our clients are looking for an experienced Health and Safety officer with drive and passion to join our busy Safety, Health and Training department.  The person will provide leadership and technical expertise and work closely with the Director of Safety, Health, Training & Skills to provide professional guidance and support to customers. The successful person will be a key member of a team delivering professional support to a broad range of construction enterprises.

The Role:

• Provide executive leadership and support to the Health and Safety Committee and where required to collaborate with other Policy Committees on matters of common interest.
• To research, understand and advise the Committee on matters relating to Safety and Health in the construction sector.
• To work with and oversee relations with relevant Government departments and Agencies as well as other sector representative bodies.
• Be responsible for developing and progressing policy positions on matters relating to OHS in the construction sector.
• Provide safety & health support to clients including the delivery of briefing sessions / webinars and the development of content such as case studies, best practice notes etc.
• Provide support for the development and promotion of safety & health schemes and training services.
• Be responsible for the delivery of construction specific projects to drive safety and health in the sector.
• Work closely with the Director of Safety, Training & Skills to develop and promote skills development.

The Person:

Ideally, the successful candidate will demonstrate that they have at least 5 years’ experience in a construction related health and safety role where they were involved development of strategy and its implementation.

• Ideally have a minimum 3rd Level Qualification in Occupational Safety & Health from a recognised Irish University.
• Have a detailed knowledge of the Irish legislative system in relation to safety and health Acts & Regulations.
• Possessing an in-depth knowledge of health and safety management systems (some knowledge of environmental and quality systems will be an advantage),
• Have experience in the provision of training and the development of training programmes will be a distinct advantage.
• Be an able communicator both verbally and in writing and possessing strong IT skills.
