Economic Analyst

Our clients, a large firm in the Telecoms sector, are looking for an Economist / Economic Analyst with experience in applying economics in a regulatory or a commercial environment.  You will work within a multifunctional team.  You can expect to manage a range of projects.

For this role, you will be an exceptional analyst, with superb problem-solving skills and an inquisitive mind, who wants to be involved in all areas of the Strategy & Economics work.

• Economic Analysis: Assess potential policy options for regulatory intervention to ensure that competition within markets functions effectively and recommending appropriate courses of action to achieve this.
• Market Insights: Tracking key developments across the range of markets and other key strategic data relevant to achievement of regulatory objectives.
• Research: Carrying out research, including the analysis, collection and collation of primary and secondary data for the purposes of informing specific projects
• Supporting various projects by contributing to organisation-level economic/regulatory policy issues, primarily by participating in projects and meetings as directed by the Director.
• Administrative duties relating to the work of the Strategy & Economics Unit, including the preparation of Terms of Reference, evaluation of proposals from external economic consultancies, and acting as a point of contact for various external research services.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Post-graduate third level qualification in a quantitative or human sciences subject, e.g., Master in Economics, business, finance, or other suitable qualification.
• Relevant post-graduate work experience in an economics or economics policy setting, including experience in a multidisciplinary environment
• Experience in managing small to medium size projects to successful outcomes.
• Excellent drafting and communication skills, with the ability to draft documentation in a rational, evidence-based, clear and concise manner.
• Excellent analytical abilities, including the ability to make reasoned judgements based on available information.
• Familiarity with Telecoms / Electronic Communications sector an advantage
