Senior Engineer – Fleet

Our clients, a multi-national transport company are looking to recruit a Senior Fleet Engineer to join their team. the Senior Engineer is responsible for managing engineering projects such as obsolescence, fleet/component overhauls, improving reliability and supporting the day-to-day maintenance by delivering troubleshooting assistance and process improvements.

The Role:

• Leading multiple projects such as reliability improvement, obsolescence replacement or reverse engineering, overhaul projects, etc.
• Managing and coordinating fleet engineers on specific projects. Providing direction to Fleet Engineers on technical decisions, reviewing and approving engineering documents where required.
• Deputising for the Fleet Engineering Manager; providing leadership for the engineering team when required.
• Carrying out performance reviews of engineering tasks, projects and the assigned teams.
• Developing new solutions to improve availability, reduce equipment downtime, improve maintenance ergonomics, develop new tools, etc.
• Produce or support the creation of business cases to explain objectives, lead time and costs (and/or costs savings).

The Role:

• Minimum 7 years’ experience working in an engineering department within a maintenance environment.
• Level 8 engineering qualification or higher is required.
• Thorough knowledge of rail industry legislation, safety case obligations and change management/approvals ideal, but not essential.
• Preferably will have experience in railway or public transport maintenance; however experience in similar industries such as automotive, road/rail freight, lifts/escalators, aircraft, marine will be considered.
• Excellent ICT skills with good knowledge of CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System). Proficient in MS Office (Specifically Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Experience in data analysis is a plus
