Credit Underwriter

Our Client, a multi-national Financial Services Firm are looking to recruit a Credit Underwriter with 2-3 years’ experience to join their team. This will initially be a 2-year contract, but may be extended.

The Role:

This role will be critical to the successful day to day running of the Underwriting Department. Reporting directly to the Underwriting Manager, the successful candidate is primarily responsible for making credit decisions on potential customers. They must display strong analytical skills and have the ability to make credit decisions under pressure in line with the firms credit policy.

• Underwrite motor finance applications within a delegated underwriting authority.
• Control the quality of the business approved by ensuring policy, procedures and guidelines are being adhered to.
• Proactively monitor and review credit policy on an ongoing basis.
• Identify and potentially implement process and system improvements in line with continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Make recommendations on applications above delegated underwriting authority and present to team management.
• Prepare credit applications with recommendations above delegated underwriting authority and present to credit committee.
• Where necessary contact customers to maximise information capture.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally to promote credit policy whilst maximising new opportunities.
• Other ad hoc duties as required.

The Person:

• Financial Services qualification or equivalent desirable but not a necessity.
• FCCC in compliance with the Minimum Competency Requirements (MCR) as per the Financial Regulator (if not already accredited, accreditation must be completed while on the job.)
• 3 yrs minimum Underwriting experience (ideally Motor Finance)
• Professional/ technical knowledge/analytical thinker
• Knowledge of the motor sales whilst not essential would be beneficial.
• Computer skills knowledge of MS Office products; MS Excel intermediate
• Language skills Fluency in English (written and spoken)
